Take Action to Increase Supply of Affordable Housing
LWVCT’s coalition partner sends us the alert below. Please take action to help increase supply of affordable housing in our state. Contact your legislators TODAY and ask them to support SB 1057 (File # 720) - An Act Concerning Housing for Economic Growth. We need your help NOW to ensure that HOMEConnecticut's legislative proposal to increase the supply of affordable housing in Connecticut is passed this legislative session. By taking just a moment to send an email, you can make a huge difference in keeping affordable housing a top priority issue for legislators at this critical stage. Connecticut needs to create more affordable and modest, market-rate housing to retain and attract young people, workers and businesses to our state. SB 1057 promotes housing development through the use of municipal incentives, technical assistance and project based rental subsidies. The bill has been approved by five committees of the General Assembly: Select Committee on Housing, Planning & Development, Commerce, Finance, Revenue and Bonding and Appropriations. It will be considered next by the Senate and then by the House of Representatives. NOW is the time to ask your State Representative and State Senator to make SB 1057 a priority for passage this session.
