TIME RUNNING OUT: HOLD LEGISLATIVE LEADERS

AND GOVERNOR ACCOUNTABLE

With the legislative clock ticking, residents from across the state have stepped up their crusade to bring universal health care to Connecticut.  "We still have a chance this session to get our health care system off life support and on the road to recovery," said Juan A. Figueroa, president of Universal Health Care Foundation. "By all accounts, thousands of calls, letters, emails and visits to legislators are keeping universal health care on the front burner at the Capitol.  The people of Connecticut expect meaningful action."

THE FACTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES - AND SO DOES THE PUBLIC

> More than 400,000 Connecticut residents are without health insurance.

> That is more than the combined populations of Hartford, New Haven, Waterbury and Norwich.

> Thousands more state residents are under-insured.

> Health insurance costs are rising so much faster than wages that in five years families will have to spend half their income on health care.

> Universal health care could save the state as much as $1 billion.

> 84% of Connecticut residents support universal health care!
