LWVCT Supports Reporting Requirement for Stolen Firearms 04/10/07
The League of Women Voters of Connecticut urges passage of the bills requiring missing or stolen firearms to be reported within 72 hours (HB 6901, SB 903, SB904). Reporting lost or stolen guns is a perfectly reasonable requirement which would do a great deal to curb the gun violence that is occurring regularly by people who cannot legally own guns. The bill would do nothing to inhibit the lawful possession of guns. Responsible gun owners should welcome the opportunity to help insure the safe use of guns.
Curbing gun violence has been a concern of the League of Women Voters for many years and our members state wide are eager to have this legislation passed.
