Hello all - I was at the Capitol yesterday (5/30) and received an update from our lead coalition partner regarding the Bottle Bill. There is momentum to resurrect the bill but with less than a week left in the legislative session, grassroots action is needed to encourage legislative leaders to do the right thing.
Another coalition partner noted that all indications are the BOTTLE BILL WOULD PASS THE LEGISLATURE IF BROUGHT TO A VOTE. It passed the Senate and was ready to go to a vote in the House, when the leadership sent it to the the General Law Committee, where one of the co-chairs represents a district that includes a Coca-Cola bottling plant for water, juice, etc. Is it any wonder that the bill was voted down?
If can contact your legislators, please do! If you can only make two contacts then it should be:
House Speaker Jim Amann at
And Rep. Christopher Stone (D), the co-chair of the General Law Committee which voted down the proposal, at:
The message is simple: you’re deeply disappointed and want the bottle bill resurrected and brought to a vote.
