Our Assault Weapons Ban prohibited the sale and possession of "selective-fire" weapons.  SB 547 would remove the language that prohibits these extremely powerful firearms that are capable of fully automatic, semi-automatic, or burst fire at the option of the user.

The NRA is bombarding legislators with phone calls, letters, and emails urging them to lift the ban and allow the purchase and possession of these dangerous weapons including this select fire HK MP5:
