The League of Women Voters of Connecticut Education Fund, with Cablevision and Hearst Media Services Connecticut, will sponsor a Democratic Senatorial primary debate with Congressman Chris Murphy and former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz.   The debate will be held on Sunday, July 22 at 2:30 p.m., in the Klein Memorial Auditorium, 910 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport.

The event will be covered gavel-to-gavel by Cablevision and streamed live on Hearst web sites.   Additionally, the program will be available for rebroadcast by all cable providers.

Before voters go to the polls on primary day, it is important for them to have the opportunity to determine which candidate would be best to represent them in the general election and to assess what leadership qualities each possesses and how they react under pressure.   Pre-primary debates help fulfill this need, and offer a unique opportunity for the candidates to present their positions on the important issues that face our country and state.

An informed citizenry is vital for a vibrant and representative democracy.  Cablevision, Hearst and the League of Women Voters of CT are proud to work together to engage voters during this critical election season.
